My name is Matthew Forshaw, I call home Tarleton; a small rural village a few miles outside of Preston in Lancashire, North West England.
I've dabbled in blogging several times before, originally with Windows Live Spaces for short and then setting up 'Matt's Story' on Blogger which I did a fairly good job of keeping up to date for a year or so before letting it become stagnant when I went to University. I made a feeble attempt to resurrect this during the spring of 2009 but to no avail.
These previous attempts were really only a play-by-play with running commentary on my life, a bit of diary really. I've never kept a diary so its nice to know that that year in my life is quite documented but I became to realize that most of what I was writing was probably quite boring. If your interested in what bar I went to last night and what I had for breakfast the morning after thats a little worrying, live your own life. I've become inspired to give it another go in recent weeks though, through reading other climbers blogs like Will Gadd, Andy Kirtpatrick, Ian Parnell and also friends like Joe Lenham, Ash Green to name a few.
I've decided that as well as my usual ramblings on what I'm doing I'm going to make a concerted effort to pen some more informative articles on technique, gear, routes, ethics and other aspects of mountaineering. I quite enjoy writing some of this stuff and perhaps it might even prove interesting or even useful to some people. I encourage people to comment, or mail me regards any of the topics I bring up, discussion is healthy.
